How government works
The Council of State acts as the collective head of state of the government. It holds the primary power to draft and propose laws. Its membership is comprised of the heads of each government department within the Civil Service and senior leadership from the Armed Forces.
The People's Assembly is the national legislature. Its role is to confirm or reject legislation proposed by the Council of State with free and democratic elections held every 6 years.

The Chairman of the Council of State
The Chairman of the Council of State is the first amongst equals within the council, and ultimately responsible for ensuring the council peforms its duties in running of the state.
The Chairman also:
• oversees the operation of the Civil Service and government agencies
• Acts as public face of The Council
• is the principle government figure in the Council of State
